If you are a seasoned traveler, then I believe this post will not be of any surprised to you. But to those of you who don’t have much time doing some kind of a research before going to Agra, then you should find a hotel located in Taj Ganj area if you wanted to get close to Taj Mahal.

Most people who travel to Agra wanted to see the magnificent Taj Mahal and it is located in Taj Ganj area. There is plenty of budget hotel here, you don’t need a hostel, a hotel is cheaper here and the best thing is, you don’t have to take Auto Rickshaw or taxi to visit Taj Mahal, it is just within a walking distance.

From Agra Cantonment Railway Station to Taj Mahal is just around six to seven kilometres depending on the road taken. It should take between fifteen to twenty minutes to get you to Taj Ganj from the railway station.

If you wanted to stay around Taj Ganj area, the best thing that you can do is, to look for a hotel that have the best view of Taj Mahal from its rooftop restaurant. Most of the hotel situated here have a rooftop hotel, some have better view than the other. The one that you are looking here is from  SANIYA PALACE INN rooftop restaurant where we stayed.

The other hotel that have great view of Taj Mahal from its rooftop restaurant is HOTEl KAMAL . Actually there are plenty of budget hotel at Taj Ganj to choose from, even though this two hotels may not be the best in Taj Ganj, but they are among the best that offer great view of Taj Mahal from its rooftop and it took less than five minutes walk from both hotel to get you to the front door of the Taj Mahal South Gate.

As a photographer I think the choice or the location of our hotel is among the most important factor to be considered because we wanted to have an easy access to the place that we wanted to photograph and the best thing about it is that, you are not rushed to get to the place and can take a photograph as long as you wanted to take and not worry about the transportation, in fact I did stay inside the Taj Mahal area until the guard ask us to leave when visiting hours is over. I don’t need to worry about taking a taxi to go back to my hotel, it is just within a walking distance and it’s quite safe here, lot’s of police in this area.
