The lighting was so beautiful on that day, even though our journey is still few hours away to reach Potala Hotel in Thangshyap from Kyanjin Gompa, I couldn’t  resist to slow down and to “Smell the roses” and off course took some pictures along the way. I called my friend Ahmad Shukri to slow down and took a picture of me and I took a picture of him knowing  that we can’t be sure whether we will ever walk this trek again in the future, I think photographers make a terrible trekkers simply because we are too slow, busy taking pictures here and there and not wanting to miss a moment.

We did carry a tripod but hardly use it other that taking a group photograph because whenever we use a tripod it will always slow us down and what worry me so much is that, we don’t want to reach the next stop when it’s dark and the truth to be told is that I and my friend Ahmad Shukri did reach Potala Hotel in Thangshyap in the dark, we can hardly see the trail and almost losing our track in the darkness, luckily we found a small house along the way to Thangshyap and asked for a direction, the owner of the house (more like a lodge) offered us to stay at his house, because it is  dangerous to walk in the dark,  we don’t have a torchlight with us then, it is my mistake for not carry a torchlight with us.

The main reason we force our way through the dark is that we never tell our friends (there were six of us) that we, me and Ahmad Shukri, wanted to stay overnight in Kyanjin Gompa, we told them that we will be coming back, so we don’t want them to think something bad is happening and luckily we manage to reach Potala Hotel to the cheerful of our friends. They are quite surprise that we manage to get “home” in the darkness of the Himalaya.

*Actually the story does not end here, there’s more to tell, be patient with me… 🙂
