Some of the Sarawak Cultural Show at Annah Rais Longhouse during the state visit of the President of Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus to Kuching Sarawak. Annah Rais settlement is the oldest in Sarawak as it has existed more than 200 years ago. The traditional architectural design of the Bidayuh longhouses has continued to be preserved. Annah Rais longhouse is located at Padawan District, approximately 60 km away from the Kuching city, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Normally I did not bother to take as much as cultural performance which normally being perform to entertain the VVIP, I’ve quite a lot of this kind of a photographs, mainly taken inside the hotel or during some kind of cultural show in Kuala Lumpur, but this one is difference, even though the performance or the “Warrior Dance” is more or less the same this one manage to get my attention, simply because it was perform at the longhouse, here in Padawan Sarawak in the heart of Borneo, in its birthplace. So this is really new experience to me, and the surrounding area also makes this performance to be really authentic in nature.

I was sitting on the woven mat, next to the President table (on my right hand side) during lunch time and this performance is to entertain the guess while they enjoy their meals and I don’t want to miss watching and photographing this show and I only get my lunch when I’m back in Kuching Sarawak, two hours later. The other thing that really attract me about this cultural show is the lighting, I mean the side lighting to be exact. At first I did use flash because it was  quite  dark here but the result is too flat and just like a snapshot, so I switch off the flash and increase the ISO to 1250 and leaving the Aperture at f/2.8, I’m using Nikon lens 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and set the shutter speed to 1/200 to freeze the action. Hopefully by sharing this picture, I can give you a glimpse of Borneo from Annah Rais Longhouse.
