Just a quick update to show you a difference between Original picture above and the Edited version with the Tone, picture below, it is subtle, it’s minimal. I shoot the original picture in RAW or NEF for Nikon. I took that shot at Putrajaya Botanical Garden during weekend with 50mm lens. Very simple shot but the moment what make this picture.

As you can see, colors does play an important role whether your picture or subject will stand out from the background or not. The yellow T-Shirt and the yellow shawl is there with a purpose, to make it stand out from the ground and from my experience if I want to play with color tone during editing, yellow colors or a picture with lots of yellow element will work best with the tone.

This is very simple editing, no need to play with lots of Photoshop layers, just one single layer is enough because this is straight forward editing processed. Some people who have bought my Photoshop Tone eBook email to me, telling me that they have a problem getting the tone that they see in my blog. I just wrote back and ask them about their original picture, where they took it, what type of lighting they use and what colors are in the picture. The combination of colors in the  original pictures is very important to determine whether the  tone will work or not because not every pictures will look great with tone.

Just follow the basic rules, keep it simple, most of my pictures were taken with just natural light, same like two pictures above, it was taken with just natural light, no flash and no reflector. Just pure natural light. Once you have the experience playing with the Photoshop Tone, you will have an idea whether certain picture will work or not. Personally for me I like to shoot during early morning or late afternoon because the light were fantastic during that time and the warm light during early morning or late afternoon does help a lot to get a beautiful tones.
