My son Raphael is three years old today, 7th June 2014. As usual no big Happy Birthday Celebration, just a small party, only six of us. On the left side of the photograph above is my mother holding Arianna, Raphael, HaiQal and my wife and off course the photographer, me.
No, we are not celebrating Earth Hour but I decided to switch-off the light so that I can take their photograph with just the candle light, three candles for three years old Raphael. I think if I turn on the lighting, it will only kills the mood, so I like to keep it that way and yes after Raphael blow off the candle light, I switch-on the light back. I use ISO 4000 to get the shot.

Everyone has their own way photographing their children’s birthday party, this is my way and the tricks is to get everyone as close as possible to the candle light, so every face is well lit and recognisable. I think this is an ideal situation to experiment with your camera High ISO capabilities, if you have never tried it, this is among the perfect time.
