Have you watch The Revenant Film? The film were shot almost entirely with natural light, I’ve watch it and wow, it was so amazing, the story were quite good but most importantly I like the way the director or the cinematographer make full use or take great advantage of the natural light.

As a photographer light is our friends, some people say that photography is all about painting with light but on the other hand we must also know how to take advantage of the light, if we can. I like natural light photography or available light photography, I don’t like using flash, but during my day to day works, sometimes I have to use it.

Anyway I just wanted to share with you what difference it look like if we photographed the same place at a different time of the day, of-course this will also be determine by the weather in your place. Everyday is not the same. Fo me personally I like a flat lighting, I like some kind of soft light, a soft diffuse light that normally happens during an overcast day.

The first photograph above were taken in the early morning, some where 7:50 Am and the other one were taken during late afternoon around 6 PM, the morning light appear to be a little bit soft, subtle and there is some mist in the background coming from the swamp, on the other hand the second photograph, the lighting appear to be a little bit harsh or strong due to strong late afternoon sun coming from behind my children.

Sometimes a certain place looks great in the late  afternoon or early morning light but rarely look great during midday. So it is great if we can visit the place that we think is beautiful and make a couple of visit at a different time of the day, especially somewhere close to our home.

*About the photographs, both were taken with a DSLR camera attach with 50mm prime lens and I was using Aperture of f/2 for both photograph to throw away the background, it was taken close to our home surrounded with  a palm trees.
