This is not the first time we travel by train on a long distance journey, well, not that long if we compared it to Trans-Siberian Railway journey, but a long journey by Malaysian standard. It supposed to be only ten hour journey but due to some technical glitch which happen at Butterworth Penang, the air-con doesn’t working and i seem that the electric connection is lost somewhere and we were stranded almost three hour at Butterworth Station.

The first time we travel by train is earlier this year to Woodlands in Singapore, but that one, we don’t have a sleepers berth compartment option, we were sitting all the way to Woodlands in Singapore for about six hours journey. This time we manage to get a sleeping compartment, I took four berths, facing each other.

On the photography site, I just use my trusted Fujifilm X100T camera for the whole trip. Actually there is nothing much to photograph inside this train because it depart almost at midnight, 10 PM to be exact and about an hour after the train start rolling, most people on board already getting into their  sleep position and close the curtain. Unlike Platzkatzny (Third Class) train in Russia, they are open, no curtain to hide.

There is plenty to photographs inside Russian train, maybe if I took the train which depart on early morning, I will get lots of photographic opportunity compared to night train.

The small camera of Fujifilm X100T really doesn’t scream for an attention and I hardly see anyone with a camera inside my compartment, some of them just took a photographs with their mobile phone only, that should be good enough for them especially if they wanted to share it with their social media friends about their whereabout.

The Fujifilm X100T works great with available light and work great also at High ISO, just don’t compare them with High End DSLR, and the shutter is very silent, almost nonexistent especially when the train is moving. All of the photograph above were shoot with RAW files but in Lightroom I use Fujifilm Classic Chrome Film Simulation preset. It doesn’t work well for every photographs but sometimes it work like magic depending on the photographs.

This is also the third time I travel by train with just Fujifilm X100T camera, the first one while it was still brand new, I took it with me traveling Trans-Siberian Railway from Saint Petersburg to Beijing in China, the second trip with Train KTM Sinaran Selatan from Kuala Lumpur to Woodlands Singapore and the recent one to Arau Perlis with KTM Train Senandung Lamgkawi.
