“As a Child, The Paddy Field Was My Playground.”

– Abdullah Ahmad Badawi –

Actually the paddy field was also my playground during my early childhood but back then our family didn’t have a camera to freeze the moment, so I don’t have a photographs to prove it to you.

Anyway this photographs were taken in September 2005, with my first DSLR which is Nikon D70s during my honeymoon with wife at Kota Belud, just a few month after our marriage. Kota Belud is the rice bowl of Sabah, the paddy field was quite compact, compared to what we have n the peninsular but they have something that we don’t have in peninsular, which is a Mount Kinabalu as their backdrop, the highest Mountain in South East Asia.

If the weather is great, the background really look like a painted picture. During my primary school, whenever there is an art lesson in a class, I will always painted something that looks like the photograph above, a paddy field against a beautiful mountain.

I don’t know how I can best describe about this place,  and no photograph can do justice to this place. You need to be here to really appreciate it, to have a taste of “Kampung Style” or to have a taste of countryside.  Kota Belud will definitely mesmerize photographers and painters alike.
