“How many years has it been since you were covered in paint in your elementary school’s art room? After reading Life after Art, you may want  to go back.

Matt takes readers on a journey to the art room to discover our purpose in life, which can be found in our God-given ability to create beauty for the world to see.”

First thing first, I’m not really good at writing a book review but anyway I really like to share this book with you. I just bought Life After Art recently and finish reading it within two days, yes it is so great. This book makes me smile sometimes and other time challenge me to create something, to be bold and never afraid of failure.

All children are artists, and I fully agree with it. I can relate to it since I’ve kids on my own, when Matt mention that children are very proud of their art work and never shy to show it to their parent, I fully agree. My six year old son HaiQal was so eager to show something that he just created to me, even though it is not perfect, messy most of the time but he never shy away from it. On the other hand ,we as an adult are quite shy away from sharing our creation.

As a photographer I can also relate to what’s been written in the book, we as a photographer sometimes are afraid to share our picture with the world, we think our photograph is so bad, it is not perfect and not worth to share it with the world, we are oftentimes afraid of criticism from our peers. All this kind of things take away the joy of being creative.

This book is joyful to read, I need to remind myself again and again that I don’t have to wait until everything is perfect, it is better to finished than perfect. I like writing a blog about photography, writing an eBook about photography and editing but sometimes whats stopping me is that, I want it to be perfect, that’s why even though I’ve tons on ideas, it never makes into blogpost or materialise into an eBook. Now I should rethink back about the concept of “perfectionism,” it is better for me to finished something than waiting it to be perfect and later on abandon the project or whatever I’m working on altogether.

I wish I can write a lot more about this great little book, but like I said before, I’m not a good writer but trust me, you will love this book as much as I did.

To those of you who wanted to regain back their creatives spirit, I highly recommended Life After Art by Matt Appling
