I have had the honor to photograph Malaysia King Tuanku Abdul Halim Official Birthday Celebration held at Istana Negara (National Palace) today June 1st 2013. The first Saturday of June yearly is mandated by the Malaysian Constitution as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s official birthday. This is the second time this ceremony held at the new National Place located at Jalan Duta Kuala Lumpur. Tuanku Abdul Halim was installed as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in a ceremony steeped in tradition at the Istana Negara in April last year.

This is about team work assignment, it require more than just one photographer to cover this great historical event and I can only share with you guys from the position that I was assign to and there is another photographers from my department that cover from various angles outside and inside the National Palace. We are in a static position most of the times because our movement is restricted inside the National Palace and once we were assigned to the designated area, we have to stay there until the ceremony ended.

A little bit about camera gear. I was using Nikon D3 with 24-120mm and 300mm f/2.8 lens and for most of the times I’m using 300mm as my prime lens because I need to get a close up shot of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Malaysia King) Tuanku Abdu Halim Mu’adzam Shah in my frame, and when I wanted to get a little bit of wide angle shot, I’m using the 24-120mm lens.
