This is our new National Palace or “Istana Negara” in Malay. It  is the official residence of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the King of Malaysia. The flag of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was raised for the first time at the new Istana Negara at  10.25am on 15th November 2011, just under an hour after the symbolic closing of the gates of the old Istana.

Istana Negara began shifting its operations to the new complex in Jalan Duta in stages since Oct 19 while the assignment of guards from ATM began on 14th November 2011. The new Istana Negara, built with Islamic and traditional Malay features, is located on a 96.52 hectare site. It will witness the installation of the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah in December.

What I can say is that, the view from this new Istana Negara is simply breathtaking especially the Kuala Lumpur skyline. If you stand just outside of the Istana Negara, just outside of the beautiful yellow dome there, you will be presented with the beautiful Kuala Lumpur skyline, I don’t have the opportunity just yet to visit this place during sunrise, I guess the view will be fantastic. Since not everyone have the opportunity to visit the new Istana Negara, hopefully by sharing this pictures you will get a better view of what it looks like from here looking outside.
