“A Story of Human Courage, Endurance and Terror.”

( Washington Post )

I don’t quite remember where I heard or read about this post, maybe from one of amy blogs that I read, I just don’t know but once I’ve read about the review on Amazon, I just can’t help it but to get this book. The truth is I still have few other books laying around in my home that have not yet be read, still in it’s plastic cover but I guess, Just like any bookworm, we really can’t resist a great book.

As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me is a story about Clements Forell, a German soldier sentenced to twenty-five years of forced labour in a Siberia lead mine after the Second Word War. Made desperate by the brutality of the conditions in the camp, Forell staged a daring escaped, resulting in an 8,000 mile journey across the trackless wastes of Siberia. His only goal was to return home to his wife and his two children.

It’s an inspiring story, about courage, one man determination and most importantly about Hope, about not giving up until the last breath. I like reading books that inspire me especially from a true story like this one. Reading military related book in not my cup of coffee but this book by Josef M. Bauer manage to persuade me to bought it in Kinokuniya Bookstore in Kuala Lumpur my favorite place.

Just to let you know also that this Book has been translated into fifteen languages and has sold over 12 million copies. I know I supposed to make review about photography equipment here in the Photographer Blog but then again, other than taking picture, reading is my other hobby. I just love reading and when I’m not shooting anything or don’t have any assignment, you can always find me in the bookstore, Kinokuniya off course.
