Don’t laugh at me if I told you guys, that this is the first time I set my foot inside Petrosains which is located at level 4 of Suria KLCC shopping center inside Malaysia famous Petronas Twin Tower. All I can say is that this is a great place for children especially, there are a lot of interactive games inside and a lot of information about Petroleum Industry, but don’t get me wrong Petrosains is not only for kids or children, it is for everybody regardless of their ages, there is so much we can learn here especially to those of you who like science subject and who like to know more about Petroleum industry.

PETROSAINS occupy two levels of the Petronas Twin Towers, its spread over the 7,000 square meters of spaces. among the highlights that will keep you entertain inside the Petrosains is :

  1. Dark Ride : As the name suggest, it is a Dark Ride, you will be taken through forest, ocean and sky by a small black “car”, it is not really a car but a place for you to sit comfortably for five people of a small size. The ride is dark but you will be entertain by a sight and sound through the ride, there is a big screen with a beautiful multimedia to keep you entertain. I wish the ride could be longer.
  2. Geotime Diorama : You will be taken back 200 million years in time and discover about dinosaur, earthquake and petroleum. That’s where i take the photographs of my son with the Dinosaur. My son is afraid of the giant dinosaur even though he like to play with dinosaur, a small one.
  3. Helicopter Flight Simulator and Oil Platform : It will take you to a simulated ride on a helicopter as you go through tropical storm and land on an oil platform. Remember to fasten your seat belt as the ride is almost “real”. I like the experience inside the simulator, its is something that not to be missed. It is free but you need to get a ticket to get inside the simulator.
  4. 3D Theater Ungku Omar : For those of you who have seen a 3D movie, this one might not interest you so much but still, it is a great experience especially you bring your kids a long, they will enjoy it. You need to pay another fees to get inside because this is an option since nt everybody wanted to go inside. For adult you have to pay RM2.00 to get inside the theatre.

You can take photographs inside the Petrosains but you can’t take a photograph during a Dark Ride. If you wanted to get a better picture with the Dinosaur, please make sure you have UWA or Ultra Wide Angle Lens with you, something around 10-20mm will do and 24-70mm if you use Full Frame DSLR. The Dinosaur is really huge. I didn’t bring Ultra Wide Angle Lens with me at that time, all pictures above were taken with just 50mm lens without using flash.

We spent more than two hours inside the Petrosains, there are a lot of interactive games to keep you entertain inside there, not just for small children but for adult as well, If my son can read, I think we will be spending more times there because there are a lot of reading material there, I mean the information. Actually we spent more time around Geotime Diorama because I wanted to take a picture of my son with the dinosaur, a lot of people wanted to get their photograph with the dinosaur, so we have to wait until it was clear, I mean less people hanging around the dinosaur. My son were screaming out loud when he saw the dinosaur, we try to keep closer to the dinosaur to get a better photograph but he was too scared and I don’t want to disturb the people inside with my son crying, so I just take a picture from quite afar from the dinosaur.
