Crying Out Loud

“If it Makes You Laugh, If it Makes You Cry, If it Rips Out  Your Heart, That’s a Good Picture.”

( Eddie Adams )

A picture of a crying child like this is not you typical kind of child photography, usually people don’t take this kind of photograph, most of the time, cheerful, happy smiling and playful child are what most preferred but apart from happy looking picture, this is the reality, children like to express themselves freely, if they want something and they don’t get it, they will cry to gain your attention and most of the times they won simply because parents just want  to keep their child quiet.

This is a picture of my son HaiQal, he is not hurt physically but the reason he is crying is because I stopped him from playing and take a picture of him, I tok him to my favorite spot to photograph him for several times until I get the shot and when he get bored, he cry, I did not abuse my child, actually I did play with him and I do try to capture him playing but unfortunately he is too fast. Running here and there and doesn’t know how to standstill even for a few seconds.

It is just an expression of dissatisfaction maybe or an expression of wanted to be free and the moment he is free again playing, he keeps on smiling, I know my son well enough, I’ve photographing him for almost three years already since he was born. I like to take a picture of my son more than anything. I like to get an expression of him, whether he is playing or crying, we seldom have our own pictures crying like this, usually all we have is a picture of ourselves smiling and happy.

I wish I have this kind of a picture myself, I would like to know how do I look like when I was crying. Is it cute or is it bad. Without photograph, nobody can tell exactly and a picture is really worth a thousands words. There is so much can be told  with just a piece of a picture. Our character, our personality and it is good to have a visual memory of ourselves while we are growing up. I can’t remember what I look like when I was five years and below, I can’t imagine it but I still can remember how does it look like when I was six years old and above but it is not clear.

So I think it is very important for us especially parent who have a picture to take as much picture as possible of our own children when they are still baby or toddler, you don’t need super expensive or high performance camera to do the job, any camera will do as long as they can take a photograph. It is not the Megapixel quality of the camera that matters, it’s the moment that matters the most.
