I know that  a picture at the very top is too blur to be good but I like it that way, I’ve another great looking panning picture that wasn’t too blur but I like that image better, maybe I like the colors and the way the bicycle move downhill and furthermore I like to portray  how chaotic this place is, Taj Ganj area where we stay.

Panning shot does take practice and very seldom people do panning with (UWA) Ultra Wide Angle Lens 10-20mm that I’m using, usually photographers will do panning shot with telephoto lens like 70-200mm or 400-600mm shot if they took a picture of F-1 racing cars or Motor GP.  The reason why photographers using telephoto lens is because they can get a beautiful blurred background while still maintain their subject in sharp focus.

But in this case I like my picture to be a little bit “shaking” to make it look like it was taken in a chaotic situation, actually it is not really chaotic but this place in Taj Ganj area is so busy with Auto Rickshaw and bicycle going here and there and not to mention, sometimes we can see donkey, horses and even camel passing by here.

This panning shots were taken at a very close distance like for an example a picture of a three person riding a motorcycle there, it was very close to our Auto Rickshaw, yes I took that picture from a moving Auto Rickshaw and the other two pictures from the side of a narrow road. I use shutter speed ranging from 1/25 to 1/30 sec to get the shots above. Sometimes super sharp static subject tend to be so boring to look at and by adding a sense of movement to the picture we can bring back the memory alive, we just can’t add “sound” to this still pictures, otherwise it will be great and I know that’s why we have video camera but it is good to be able to freeze a movement in a still pictures and yet have a “movement” in it.

Nice, fleeting images and the title fits the images very well. Your blog is turning out to be one of my favorites.

    Wazari –

Great images, I really appreciate the feel of movement in each!

I especially like the last image, the movement combined with colors and depth of field makes it the most unique and intriguing to my eye, well done!

    Cheers – Jeff
