Travel Photography | Sunset at Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal
© 2010 Wazari Wazir | Travel Photography | Taj Mahal at Sunset

I took this picture from the rooftop of our hotel, Saii Palace Hotel in Taj Ganj area, just few minute before we leave this hotel for New Delhi. I use 50mm lens for this shot, I wish I’ve a longer lens but I don’t have, In fact the only lens that I bring with me in India is 50mm and 10-20mm lens, talking about traveling light.

I wish the weather was very good but it was just quite “okay” for me but not what I’m hoping for. The sun was on the far left side of this picture, so if I want to include the sun in the frame,  Taj Mahal will look quite small, that’s why I didn’t include the sun here. If you really wanted to know where is the best place to get sunset shot of Taj Mahal, you have to go to the other side of Taj Mahal, at Yamuna River just behind the Taj Mahal in this picture.

It may look close to Taj Mahal, but it will take around 30 minute to 45 minute to get to the other side of Yamuna River depending on the traffic condition. We did go there on the previous day but the weather was not on our side and the Yamuna River was quite dry and the reflection of Taj Mahal doesn’t look great. If you have the time, do have a visit at Yamuna River and if you are lucky enough , you will get a majestic shot of Taj Mahal during sunset, there were camel there for rent, if you are wondering how do they get a picture of a camel in front of Taj Mahal in silhouette crossing the Yamuna River, now you know the secrets, just pay the camel owner and you will get the shot that will be envied by your friends.
