Omadal | A Portrait of Innocence

Some people find it hard to locate Omadal on a Malaysian map, it’s there but it is not famous like Langkawi or Tioman Island in the Peninsular Malaysia or Sipadan and Mabul in Sabah Malaysia North Borneo. Omadal does have a beautiful stretch of beach along its coastline but it is not popular, you can’t find five star resort there, just a small village there mostly  from the people of “Bajau Laut” tribe or  better known as Sea Gypsy.

You can get there from Semporna by small boat approximately about 45 minutes to get to the island but I don’t think Omadal  will become a tourist attraction in the near future but it does have a lot to offer especially to those who loves photography, there is so many things to be photographed there especially the kids and the people who lives there. You can see from my previous post about why this place is an interesting place to a photographers, deep blue sky and clear water as crystal  is one of the many attraction here.

It is not difficult to get here, if you come from Kuala Lumpur, you can take a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport via Malaysian Airlines or AirAsia to Tawau Sabah, from Tawau take a taxi that will take you to Semporna in approximately one hour and from Semporna just ask local people there, how to get to Omadal, with a small price to pay for a boat you are just less than an hour away from the island. Have fun taking pictures there but before you head over to the island, it is good practice to buy some souvenir for the kids at Semporna, some candy will come in handy to make Omadal kids happy.

A beautiful portrait, Wazari. If all people at Omadal are this photogenic, you’ve given me just another reason to look up this spot. I can’t wait to see more of what you’e got from Sabah this time.
